A.Approval of Settlement of Pending Litigation – Dr. Paul Gausman

RECOMMENDATION:  That the Board of Directors approves EMC’s settlement of pending litigation in the case of Swan v. Sioux City Community School District.

B.School Calendars for 2022-2023, 2023-2024 and 2024-2025 – Jen Gomez

RECOMMENDATION:  That the Board of Directors set a public hearing for November 22, 2021, at 6:00 p.m., local time, at the Educational Service Center, 627 4th Street, Sioux City, Iowa, to receive public input on the District’s proposed 2022-2023, 2023-2024 and 2024-2025 school calendars.

C.Elementary Interventions – Dr. Brian Burnight

RECOMMENDATION:  That the Board of Directors approves the purchase of LLI materials for $231,631 and the payment to teachers for completion of the supporting two hours of  training not to exceed $19,000.

 

That the Board of Directors approves the purchase of Read Naturally materials for $10,314 and the payment to teachers for completion of the supporting two hours of  training not to exceed $7,000.

 

That the Board of Directors approves the purchase of Sound Partners materials for $4,227 and the payment to teachers for completion of the supporting two hours of  training not to exceed $2,575.


D.Board Authorization to Request Modified Supplemental Amount for ELL Beyond 5 Years – Patty Blankenship

RECOMMENDATION:  That the Board of Directors authorizes the District’s administration to submit a request to the School Budget Review Committee for a modified supplemental amount of $1,213,196.49 related to the English language learning program for students who have exceeded five years of weighting that are included on the fall 2021 certified enrollment.

E.Board Authorization to Request Modified Supplemental Amount for Increased Enrollment – Patty Blankenship

RECOMMENDATION:  That the Board of Directors authorizes the District’s administration to submit a request to the School Budget Review Committee for a modified supplemental amount of $385,921.80 due to an increase of certified enrollment from the prior year.

F.FY23 Preliminary Spending Authority Projections and the Budget Presentation Calendar – Patty Blankenship

RECOMMENDATION:  That the Board of Directors acknowledges the information regarding the District’s FY23 preliminary spending authority projections and the budget presentation calendar.

G.Agreement with ESS for Substitute Solutions – Dr. Paul Gausman and Dr. Jen Gomez

RECOMMENDATION:  That the Board of Directors approves an Agreement with ESS for Substitute Solutions.

H.FY22 VIBE Academy Construction Project – Tim Paul

RECOMMENDATION:  That the Board of Directors approves the plans, specifications, and estimated costs, including architectural fees, provided by FEH Design of Sioux City, Iowa, of $1,500,000.00 for the construction of the District’s VIBE Academy and set a public hearing date.

 

A public hearing will be held at 6:00 p.m. local time, at the Educational Service Center,

627 4th Street, Sioux City, Iowa, on the 22nd day of November, 2021.  Plans and specifications may be reviewed at the Purchasing Manager’s office located at the same address.
