Downtown Administrative Personnel – 2 Full Day Equivalents in the classroom each month. (This includes all administrative members and their staff.)

A public hearing will be held at 6:00 p.m. local time, at the Educational Service Center, 627 4th Street, Sioux City, Iowa, on the 10th day of January 2022. | | | | | | F. | Small Group Skills Based Instruction – President Greenwell | | | | | | | | | | | | | | RECOMMENDATION: In order to increase teacher autonomy and allow teachers to use their professional judgment, strict observations and rigid implementation of Small Group Skills Based Instruction shall be determined by the classroom teacher who knows best how to implement differentiated learning for groups within the classroom. This means that each professional teacher shall use their best judgement on teaching strategies to employ and that ”one size fits all” is not likely the most effective approach for instruction. | | | | | | G. | International Baccalaureate – President Greenwell | | | | | | | | | | | | | | RECOMMENDATION: In order to reduce the unnecessary administrative burden on teachers and staff, the District shall no longer attempt to “certify” the International Baccalaureate designation at the current elementary schools. Further, International Baccalaureate related changes shall not go forward at the elementary, the middle or high schools. Further, there is no research or evidence that International Baccalaureate provides academic benefit to students. | | | | | | H. | Open Response – President Greenwell | | | | | | | | | | | | | | RECOMMENDATION: In order to reduce the unnecessary burden on teachers of all content areas, the District Department of Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment shall review and bring the Board, for approval, a new format for the Open Response protocol to be used in a limited fashion for the remainder of the school year. | | | |
