>> THIS HIGH SCHOOL IS CELEBRATING ITS 100TH YEAR BEING PART OF THE CITY COMMUNITY SCHOOL DISTRICT.

THESE HIGH SCHOOL SERVES ABOUT 1,500 STUDENTS FROM THE EAST SIDE, WHICH INCLUDES EAST MIDDLE, ERVING ELEMENTARY, BOARDING SIDE ELEMENTARY, NORTH AND SOUTHEAST SIDE, SPALDING PARK AND AUD ELEMENTARY SCHOOLS, ALL ATTEND THIS HIGH SCHOOL.

WHAT ARE WE MOST PROUD OF HERE IN EAST HIGH SCHOOL? WE ARE PROUD OF OUR WELCOMING ENVIRONMENT, OUR DIVERSITY.

THE AMOUNT OF STUDENTS THAT ARE INVOLVED HERE IN EAST HIGH SCHOOL, OUR PARENT INVOLVEMENT.

WE COULDN'T DO IT WITHOUT THEM, AND WE'RE PROUD OF OUR ACADEMIC ACHIEVEMENT AND GRADUATION RATE IN LAST YEAR SENIOR, EARNED OVER 2000 COLLEGE CREDIT.

EAST HIGH SUPPORT STAFF.

EAST HIGH SCHOOL FRESHMAN HOUSE IS DESIGNED TO GIVE ACTUAL SUPPORT FOR THE STUDENTS TRANSITION YEAR TO HIGH SCHOOL.

OUR ACADEMIC DEPARTMENT, HERE ARE ACTIVITIES.

WE HAVE SOMETHING FOR EVERYONE, INCLUDING CLUBS, RANGING FROM VIDEO GAMES TO BOOK CLUBS.

WITHIN THE 15 DAYS, THERE HADN'T BEEN ANOTHER BOARD MEETING AND THAT ENDS ON THE 27TH WHILE WE'RE ON BREAK.

THIS PERSON REQUESTED ON FRIDAY TO HAVE A HEARING, SO WE HAD TO PUT IT ON THE AGENDA FOR LEGAL COUNSEL GUIDANCE ON THIS MONDAY.

THE HEARING THEN WILL HAVE TO BE, BUT WITHIN 20-40 DAYS AFTER TODAY IF THE EMPLOYEE STILL WISHES TO HAVE THE HEARING.

WHICH WE WILL. SHE WANTED TO MAKE THIS INDIVIDUAL WANTED TO MAKE SURE THIS WAS ON RECORD AND THAT THAT THEY REQUESTED.

IT SHOWS THE GOVERNMENTAL FUNDS INCLUDE THE GENERAL FUND, THE SCHOLARSHIP, FIDUCIARY FUND, THE ACTIVITY FUND, MANAGEMENT FUND, SALES TAX, CAPITAL PROJECTS, PAPER FUND, AND DEBT SERVICE.

I THINK WE JUST CAN FOCUS ON THE HIGHLIGHTED LINE ITEM THERE.

IT SHOWS THE ASSETS A BALANCE SHEET.

IT SHOWS THE ASSETS AND THE LIABILITIES AND THEN THE FUND BALANCE.

BUT AT THE HIGHLIGHTED BLUE LINE, AT THE BOTTOM, YOU CAN SEE THE TOTAL FUND BALANCE.

THE GENERAL FUND AT JUNE 30 OF 2025 HAD A ENDING FUND BALANCE OF 87.6 MILLION.

MOST OF THAT 80.1 MILLION WAS ALL UNASSIGNED FUND BALANCE.

THE STUDENT ACTIVITY FUND HAD A FUND BALANCE OF ABOUT 898,000 MANAGEMENT FUND HAD ABOUT 4.8 MILLION SALES TAX FUND, 34.9 MILLION, THE PEOPLEFUND BOUGHT 1.1 IN PEOPLEFUND, AND THEN THE DEBT SERVICE 7.6 MILLION.

THE GOVERNMENTAL FUNDS HAD A TOTAL FUND BALANCE OF 137.3 MILLION.

THEN THE NEXT PAGE IS THE STATEMENT OF REVENUES, EXPENDITURES, AND CHANGES IN FUND BALANCE STILL FOR THE GOVERNMENTAL FUNDS.

THESE ARE LABELED AS UNAUDITED.

THE AUDIT REPORT WILL BE OUT, WE GENERALLY PRESENT THAT IN JANUARY.

BUT I EXPECT THE AUDIT REPORT TO BASICALLY MATCH THESE NUMBERS EXACTLY.

BUT ON THE GENERAL FUND, THE FIRST BLUE HIGHLIGHTED, YOU CAN SEE THE TOTAL REVENUES.

THE GENERAL FUND HAD 204.7 MILLION IN REVENUES.

THEN THE TOTAL EXPENDITURES FOR THE GENERAL FUND WERE 196.8 MILLION.

THEN OTHER FINANCING USES WERE ABOUT 1.9 MILLION.

THE NET CHANGE IN FUND BALANCE WAS $6 MILLION.

THAT MEANS THE GENERAL FUND BALANCE INCREASED BY $6 MILLION.

THE NEXT SET ON PAGE 3 IS A STATEMENT OF NET POSITION.

THIS IS EQUIVALENT TO A BALANCE SHEET, BUT THESE ARE THE PROPRIETARY FUNDS.

THE FIRST ONE THERE IS THE SCHOOL NUTRITION FUND, AND YOU CAN SEE THE SCHOOL NUTRITION FUND ENDED THE YEAR WITH ABOUT 5.5 MILLION IN FUND BALANCE.

THE STUDENT CONSTRUCTION FUND HAD 196 THAN IN FUND BALANCE.

THEN THE VERY LAST COLUMN IS LABELED THE INTERNAL SERVICE FUND.

THIS IS THE SCHOOL DISTRICT'S SELF INSURED DENTAL FUND.

IT ENDED THE YEAR WITH ABOUT 1.1 MILLION IN FUND BALANCE.

THE NEXT PAGE SHOWS THE STATEMENT OF REVENUES, EXPENSES, AND CHANGES IN NET POSITION FOR THOSE PROPRIETARY FUNDS.

WE CAN JUST LOOK DOWN AT THE BOTTOM LINE THERE.

HIGHLIGHTED LINE, THE SCHOOL NUTRITION FUND HAD A DECREASE IN NET POSITION OF ABOUT 488,000.

THAT WAS A PLAN DECREASE.

WE KNEW THAT WE HAD ADDED MORE CEP SITES, WHICH STAND FOR.

>> 100% OF THE SCHOOL IS FREE.

WE EXPECTED THAT, AND THEY HAD A FUND BALANCE THAT COULD SUPPORT THAT.

THE STUDENT CONSTRUCTION FUND THAT WAS THIS IS ONLY THE FIRST YEAR OF THE STUDENT OF THE PROPRIETARY FUND FOR THE STUDENT CONSTRUCTION FUNDS, WE HAD HAD AN INCREASE OF 196 THAT STARTED WITH ZERO, AND THE INTERNAL SERVICE FUND ABOUT BREAK-EVEN, WHICH IS WHAT WE PLAN FOR THOSE DENTAL PREMIUMS TO EQUAL THE CLAIMS. THOSE ARE THE TWO SETS OF FINANCIAL STATEMENTS, THE GOVERNMENTAL FUNDS, AND THEN THE PROPRIETARY FUNDS.

THIS NEXT PAGE ON PAGE 5 IS THE GENERAL FUND BUDGET TO ACTUAL, ONLY THE GENERAL FUND.

THE FIRST COLUMN SHOWS THE ACTUAL REVENUES AND EXPENDITURES.

THIS IS AT A CONSOLIDATED LEVEL, SUMMARIZED LEVEL OF THE GENERAL FUND, AND THEN IT SHOWS THE RE ESTIMATED BUDGET, AND THEN IT SHOWS A VARIANCE AND THE ACTUAL AS A PERCENT OF THE BUDGET.

YOU CAN SEE ON THE REVENUES AND ON THE EXPENDITURES, OUR BUDGET TO ACTUALS WERE VERY CLOSE.

TEACHERS, INSTRUCTIONAL ASSISTANTS, AND ALL OF THE MATERIALS, ANY TYPE OF SUPPLY, INCLUDING THE DEVICES OR OTHER TYPES OF TEXTBOOKS OR SUPPLEMENTAL MATERIALS.

I'VE INCLUDED IT HERE TOO, BUT IT HAS ALL THE GOVERNMENTAL FUNDS AND ALL THE PROPRIETARY FUNDS, AND THEN IT SHOWS THE ORIGINAL BUDGET AND ALSO THE FINAL BUDGET, AND THEN THE FINAL TO ACTUAL VARIANCES.

PAGE 7 IS JUST A DIFFERENT VISUAL OF THE GENERAL FUND REVENUES THAT COMPARES; YOU CAN SEE 2025 AND 2024 THERE.

THEY'RE REALLY VERY COMPARABLE.

THE THING THAT I ALWAYS NOTE IS THAT OUR STATE REVENUE IS 69.8% OF OUR TOTAL REVENUE BUDGET AND LOCAL, WHICH WOULD INCLUDE PROPERTY TAXES, BUT THERE'S ALSO SOME FEES IN THERE AND OPEN ENROLLMENT WOULD BE IN THERE.

BUT THAT'S ABOUT 21.9% OF OUR BUDGET.

THE VAST MAJORITY OF OUR FUNDING IS COMING FROM THE STATE THROUGH THE STATE AID FORMULA.

BUT ANYWAY, YOU'VE DONE A GREAT JOB AND KEEP IT UP.

MR. VANDERL IF THERE'S ANYONE WHO KNOWS WHAT'S GOING ON IN THE DISTRICT, IT'S YOU, AND I COULD ALWAYS GO TO YOU WHEN I HAD A QUESTION ABOUT, HEY, I'M HEARING THIS, WHAT'S GOING ON.

I SAW WHAT YOU DID AT WEST MIDDLE, WHICH WAS AT THAT TIME, THE TOUGHEST MIDDLE SCHOOL IN THE DISTRICT, AND IT HAD TROUBLES.

YOU WENT IN AND IN ONE YEAR, YOU TOOK THAT OVER AND REALLY MADE DRASTIC IMPROVEMENTS.

AT THAT POINT, THEN I FIGURED OUT WHO YOU WERE.

THE FOLLOWING YEAR, THE SUPERINTENDENT CAME AND WE WERE TALKING AND HE SAID, I'M RECOMMENDING HER FOR HR DIRECTOR.

I SAID, REALLY? I GUESS THAT'LL WORK.

I DON'T DON'T KNOW.

BUT THEN ULTIMATELY, YOU WERE APPOINTED THE CIA DIRECTOR, WHICH I'M LIKE, HOW THE HECK I THOUGHT YOU WERE GOING TO BE HR.

I WAS LIKE, I CHANGED MY MIND.

SHE'S GOING TO BE CIA DIRECTOR.

THEN I WATCHED WHAT YOU DID WITH THE CIA DEPARTMENT, AND YOU COMPLETELY REBUILT IT.

IT WAS IN A SHAMBLES WHEN YOU GOT IT, AND YOU COMPLETELY REBUILT THAT TOO.

THEN YOU HAD COURAGE AND CONVICTION TO HANDLE SOME OTHER ITEMS THAT MOST DIRECTORS WOULDN'T DO.

AT THAT POINT, YOU REALLY CAUGHT ATTENTION OF WOW.

SHE FIXED WEST WELL SHE'S PRINCIPAL, IT LEADS FIXED WEST MIDDLE, CAME IN AND TOTALLY REVAMPED CIA DEPARTMENT AND MADE IT TRULY PROFESSIONAL.

THEN THERE WERE THE NEXT THINGS, AND DR. ERWIN MADE A CHOICE.

MANY PEOPLE CRITICIZED HIS CHOICE AND THEY CRITICIZED ME, AND THERE'S SOME GAD FLIES IN THE COMMUNITY THAT SAID A BUNCH OF NASTY THINGS, BUT NONE OF THEM WERE TRUE.

THE WAY THAT YOU HANDLED IT WITH GRACE AND DIGNITY WAS FOR AMAZING TO ME, AND IT JUST SHOWS THE HIGH QUALITY OF YOUR CHARACTER.

IT REAFFIRMS ALL THOSE PREVIOUS THINGS THAT YOU DID WELL, AND THE WAY YOU'VE HANDLED THE ASSISTANT SUPERINTENDENT JOB FOR THESE LAST SEVERAL YEARS IS ABSOLUTELY REMARKABLE IN THE PROGRESS THAT THIS DISTRICT HAS MADE.

THIS CABINET IS THE BEST IT'S EVER BEEN.

I'VE BEEN WATCHING FOR 11 YEARS.

THIS IS THE STRONGEST CABINET WE'VE EVER HAD.

NOWHERE ELSE HAS A TEAM EVER WORKED SO CLOSELY TOGETHER AND SO WELL AND SUPPORTING EACH OTHER, AND YOU'RE A UNIFIED TEAM, THAT'S VERY STRONG.

I GOT TO BELIEVE WE'RE ONE OF THE BEST IN THE STATE, AND FOR THAT, I'M VERY GRATEFUL.

YOU GUYS KNOW THAT LEADERSHIP IS HARD.

LEADERSHIP DOES REQUIRE MAKING HARD CHOICES FOR THE RIGHT REASONS. IT'S NOT EASY.

BUT YOU GUYS DO IT EVERY SINGLE DAY.

IT'S NOT NEW TO YOU.

THE BOARD CAN LEARN FROM YOU. I LEARNED FROM YOU.

IT'S SOMETHING THAT YOU GUYS HAVE, BUT MOST OF ALL, AMONGST YOURSELVES, YOU DEMAND ACCOUNTABILITY, TRANSPARENCY AND INTEGRITY.

THOSE ARE THREE WORDS THAT HAVE BEEN THROWN AROUND A LOT LATELY.

WE NEED TO TAKE A PLAYBOOK FROM YOU GUYS.

PLAY FROM YOUR PLAYBOOK BECAUSE YOU'VE DONE IT WELL.

YOU'VE CONTINUED TO FOCUS ON THE IMPORTANCE OF YOUR WORK, PROVIDING QUALITY EDUCATION TO OUR STUDENTS OF OUR DISTRICT.

I'M VERY PROUD OF THIS TEAM.

I'M MORE PROUD OF THIS TEAM AND HOW YOU GUYS HAVE WORKED, PARTICULARLY IN THE LAST SEVERAL YEARS,

>> THIS IS THE END OF A YEAR AND A BEGINNING POINT FOR A NEW YEAR, AND I THINK IT IS WORTH SAYING SOME FEW THINGS THAT I THINK MATTER TO OUR MUTUAL DESIRE FOR AN EXCEPTIONALLY SUCCESSFUL SCHOOL DISTRICT LIKE WE HAVE.

THE FIRST THING I'M GOING TO SAY IS SOMETHING THAT I LEARNED HERE IN THE FIRST COUPLE OF YEARS THAT I'VE BEEN ON THE BOARD.

WE I'VE HEARD MR. GREENWELL ALREADY SALUTE THE STAFF AND THE DIRECTORS HERE THAT ARE HERE AND SOME OF THEM ARE ABSENT.

WHAT I LEARNED IS WHEN YOU LOOK AT THE PRIORITIES THAT WE HAD SET FOR AT LEAST THE LAST TWO YEARS, AND I UNDERSTAND BEFORE THAT, AND YOU LOOK AT WHAT THEY'RE CALLING FOR, I THINK THE EXPECTATION IS THAT WE WOULD ACHIEVE SOME OF THOSE THINGS, PARTICULARLY IN SPECIAL ED OVER A PERIOD OF SEVERAL YEARS.

THIS STAFF HAS ACHIEVED IT IN MY MIND, A RECORD SHORT AMOUNT OF TIME, WHICH SPEAKS VOLUMES ABOUT THE ABILITY OF OUR ADMINISTRATION STAFF FROM TOP TO BOTTOM, AND ESPECIALLY ABOUT THE QUALITY OF OUR FACULTY OUT IN THE SCHOOLS TO ACCOMPLISH GOALS THAT WE SET HERE AT THE BOARD, AND IT TELLS ME HOW IMPORTANT IT IS TO SET PRIORITIES AND WHAT THE COMMUNITY WANTS TO SEE.

I'M NOT SAYING THAT WE DON'T HAVE THOSE GOALS, BUT WHEN WE SET THEM, WHAT I KNOW AND NOW WHAT I EXPECT IS THAT OUR STAFF AND OUR FACULTY WILL END UP DELIVERING ON THOSE FAR BETTER.

THEN MOST OTHER FOLKS IN SCHOOL BOARDS AROUND, AND THERE ARE SEVERAL THAT I TALK TO IN OTHER COMMUNITIES EXPECT WHERE THEY ARE.

THEY TALK ABOUT HOW LUCKY I AM BEING ON THIS BOARD WITH THIS ADMINISTRATIVE SUPPORT, SO I WANT TO FIRST SAY THAT.

THEN I SAY THAT WE APPRECIATE THOSE WHO HAVE SERVED IN THE PAST, AND TODAY IS A DAY FOR US TO RECOGNIZE MR. GREENWELL AND THERE IS A GREAT DEAL OF GOOD SERVICE THAT HE HAS GIVEN TO OUR COMMUNITY,
