AND TODAY WE'RE HOPING TO PRESENT SOME OF THE FINDINGS THAT WE HAD BETWEEN THEN AND NOW. AND THEN REALLY OPEN IT UP FOR DISCUSSION TO GET YOUR INPUT AND YOUR DIRECTION OF WHERE YOU WANT US TO GO WITH THIS. MOVING ON FROM HERE. I HAVE A COUPLE SLIDES I'M GOING TO GO OVER. SO THE LAST MEETING, FOR THOSE THAT WEREN'T IN ATTENDANCE, WE TALKED ABOUT A MASTER PLAN, AND WE'LL JUST KIND OF KEEP REITERATING WHAT THE PURPOSE OF A MASTER PLAN IS, BUT IT'S A SCHOOL DISTRICT'S MASTER PLAN. IT'S A COMPREHENSIVE, LONG-RANGE ROADMAP THAT GUIDES DECISIONS ABOUT THE USE OF MAINTENANCE. RENOVATION AND CONSTRUCTION OF SCHOOL BUILDINGS AND OTHER DISTRICT FACILITIES. IT HELPS THE DISTRICT ALIGN IN PHYSICAL INFRASTRUCTURE WITH THE EDUCATIONAL GOALS, ENROLLMENT TRENDS, COMMUNITY NEEDS, AND FINANCIAL CAPACITY. SO WE'RE JUST TRYING TO ALIGN ALL OF THOSE FOR OUR PLANNING OVER THE NEXT FEW YEARS. AS WE WE LOOK AT MOVING INTO THE FUTURE. AND WHAT WORK WE'RE GOING TO PERFORM ON SOME OF OUR AGING SCHOOL BUILDINGS. SO SOME OF THE THINGS WE'RE GOING TO COVER TONIGHT ARE, WHAT ARE THE IMMEDIATE NEEDS. ONE OF THE REQUESTS FROM THE BOARD LAST TIME WAS GIVE US WHAT'S THE URGENT NEEDS OF THE BUILDINGS AND HOW WE CAN ADDRESS THEM. ONE OF THE OTHER ONES WAS, WHAT WOULD IT TAKE TO GET ANOTHER 50 YEARS OUT OF THE CURRENT FACILITIES THAT WE HAVE? WHAT DOES IT LOOK LIKE TO REPLACE ALL THREE HIGH SCHOOLS? AND THEN TO COME UP WITH SOME CREATIVE IDEAS FOR A CONSOLIDATED CAMPUS-TYPE ENVIRONMENT THAT WE'LL TALK ABOUT HERE A LITTLE BIT LATER. SO I'M JUST GOING TO COVER SOME OF THE IMMEDIATE NEEDS. SOME OF THESE ARE GOING TO NEED TO BE TRIAGED. IF WE SAID TODAY, WE'RE NOT GOING TO DO ANYTHING WITH THIS, WE'RE GOING TO PAUSE THE MASTER PLAN, WE'RE GOING TO PUT THIS ON HOLD FOR A SET AMOUNT OF YEARS. DOWN THE ROAD, THESE ARE SOME THINGS THAT WE'D WANT TO LOOK AT. IF WE LOOK IN A DIFFERENT DIRECTION, WE'RE GOING TO GO BACK AND TRIAGE SOME OF THESE REPAIRS AND SAY, HEY, LET'S NOT PUT OUR DOLLARS INTO THIS. IF WE'RE PLANNING SOMETHING DIFFERENT OR MOVING IN A DIFFERENT DIRECTION, ESPECIALLY IF WE'RE GOING TO RENOVATE. WE MIGHT NOT PUT PIPES BACK ON THE WE MIGHT DO SOMETHING A LITTLE DIFFERENT THAN THAT. THESE ARE THE SAME SLIDE THAT WE SHARED LAST TIME. WE GOT A LITTLE MORE INPUT ON THOSE, BUT THE NORTH HIGH ROOF PIPING, ALL THE HVAC HEATING AND COOLING DO GO ACROSS THE ROOF AT NORTH HIGH. SOME OF THAT HAS HAD CONSISTENT LEAKS OVER THE YEARS. WE HAVE REPLACED AS THEY FAILED, BUT IF THIS WOULD BE SOMETHING THAT WE'RE LOOKING AT, A SHORT-TERM GOAL OF GETTING THESE REPLACED, AND ALSO IF THERE'S AN ISSUE WITH LEAKS, THEY'RE GOING TO HAPPEN HERE IN THE NEAR FUTURE. LIKE I SAID, IF WE'RE GOING TO DO A DIFFERENT PLAN, WE'RE GOING TO TRIAGE AND REPAIR THOSE. IF IT'S SOMETHING WE'RE GOING TO PAUSE FOR A CONSIDERABLE AMOUNT OF TIME, WE'LL PROBABLY LOOK AT REPLACING THOSE. DO YOU HAVE ANYTHING TO ADD TO THAT, LEE? YEAH, I THINK, JUST TO ADD ON, LIKE, WHAT DO WE MEAN BY TRIAGE? YOU KNOW, IF WE DECIDE TO DO SOMETHING NOT WITH THIS BUILDING, WE'D PROBABLY NEED TO STILL DO SOMETHING WITH THAT PIPING, BUT IT'D BE A MUCH LESS EXPENSIVE SOLUTION. LIKE, WE'D MAYBE USE A MORE FLEXIBLE PIPE, NOT GOING BACK IN WITH THE PIPES THAT ARE UP THERE, HARD PLUMBED, ALL THAT STUFF. SO WE WOULD. WE'D FIGURE OUT HOW TO JUST KEEP IT GOING FOR ANOTHER THREE, FIVE YEARS. SO THAT'S KIND OF THE SAME WITH ALL OF THEM. SO I DON'T KNOW IF THAT HELPS KIND OF CLARIFY, WHAT. AND THERE'S OBVIOUSLY A MUCH BIGGER LIST BEHIND THESE, BUT THIS IS WHAT WOULD PROBABLY KEEP THE SCHOOLS, CANCEL A DAY OF SCHOOL. THAT'S THAT LIST THAT WE PUT TOGETHER. AND JUST RUNNING THROUGH THE REST OF THEM, EAST HIGH, THE A2VAV REPLACEMENT. AND THE PIPING AT EAST HIGH, IT'S AGED. A LOT OF THE AHU, OR ALL OF THE AIR HANDLING UNITS AT EAST HIGH, ARE ORIGINAL, ALONG WITH THE VAV BOXES. THEY'RE ALL ORIGINAL TO THAT BUILDING. AND HYDRONIC PIPING AT NODLIN, THIS IS THE DOMESTIC WATER. WE'VE DONE QUITE A BIT OF REPAIRS LATELY OVER THE PAST FEW YEARS ON THE HEATING AND COOLING SYSTEMS, BUT THE DOMESTIC WATER IN THE TUNNEL WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED OVER THE SHORT TERM. PROBABLY NOT A LARGE PROJECT, BUT, YOU KNOW, SOMEWHERE IN THAT $100,000 RANGE THAT WE NEED TO LOOK AT. AND THEN THE MEDIUM PRIORITY. PROJECTS, WEST HIGH [00:05:01] SCHOOL AIR HANDLER REPLACEMENTS, THEY'RE ALL LOCATED ON THE ROOF. I BELIEVE THEY'RE APPROACHING THAT 25 TO 30 YEAR RANGE, SO THEY'RE GETTING TOWARDS THE END OF THEIR LIFESPAN. EAST MIDDLE SCHOOL BOILERS WOULD BE ANOTHER ONE THAT WE'D WANT TO REPLACE, AND THEN THE AIR HANDLING UNITS AT NORTH MIDDLE SCHOOL, SAME THING, THERE ARE ROOFTOP UNITS APPROACHING THAT 25 TO 30 YEAR AGE. THE TOTAL COST FOR ALL OF THESE PROJECTS, IS IN THAT RANGE OF $11,200,000. AND THESE ARE JUST THE THINGS THAT WE NEED DIRECTION ON SO THAT WE CAN, YOU KNOW, IF WE HAVE TO KEEP THESE GOING, WE'RE GOING TO KEEP THEM GOING. THE OTHER THING THAT'S NOT ON THE SLIDE THAT I WANT TO TALK ABOUT TODAY IS THE ESC BUILDING. THERE ARE SOME REPAIRS. THE ESC DID NOT GET A LOT OF MASTER PLANNING LOOK AT IT BECAUSE THE EFFORT WAS REALLY SPENT ON THE SCHOOLS. BUT THE ESC DOES HAVE SOME REPAIRS THAT NEED TO BE DONE. NOW, AS YOU LOOK AT THE ESC, IT APPEARS THAT IT'S ONE BUILDING, BUT IT'S ACTUALLY TWO BUILDINGS. THE BUILDING WE'RE SITTING IN HERE WAS A SEPARATE BUILDING THAN THE ONE THAT IS, I'M GOING TO CALL IT THE JCPENNEY'S SECTION OF THE BUILDING. SO THERE'S TWO INDEPENDENT HEATING AND COOLING SYSTEMS WORKING ON THIS BUILDING. THIS BUILDING IS RAN OFF OF A GEOTHERMAL SYSTEM, AND IT IS THE ORIGINAL AGE OF. IT'S PROBABLY AROUND THAT 2011, 2012 RANGE. FOR THE EQUIPMENT, THE WELLS, AND ALL OF THAT NEAREST THAT I CAN TELL WHAT THE WELLS AND PUMPS ARE, THEIR ORIGINAL TO THE 1970S DESIGN. SO THERE'S SOME AGE TO THIS SYSTEM AS WELL, THAT SOME INFRASTRUCTURE THAT WOULD NEED TO BE LOOKED AT. WE LOOKED AT DOWN THE ROAD THE POSSIBILITY OF TYING THE TWO BUILDINGS TOGETHER. WHEN DELTA OCCUPIED THE JCPENNEY BUILDING, THERE WAS A PLENTIFUL AMOUNT OF HEATING AND COOLING THAT WAS INSTALLED. SO WE COULD BACK FEED THIS BUILDING OFF OF THAT. WE ACTUALLY STUDIED THAT A FEW YEARS AGO AND HAVE A PLAN THAT WE COULD MAKE THAT WORK. BUT THOSE ARE SOME ADDITIONAL COSTS THAT WOULD COME DOWN THE ROAD. AND THEN THERE'S ALSO A BURIED ELECTRICAL VAULT THAT IS OUTSIDE HERE ON JACKSON STREET. IN THE EARLIER YEARS, BACK WHEN THIS DOWNTOWN WAS CONSTRUCTED, ALL OF THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEMS WERE RUN UNDERGROUND AND THEY PUT A VAULT UNDER THEM. SO OUR TRANSFORMERS FOR THESE TWO BUILDINGS ARE BURIED UNDERGROUND. IN ORDER TO REPLACE THEM, A SECTION OF CONCRETE NEEDS TO BE REMOVED. SO THE RECOMMENDATION FROM MIDAMERICA IS WITHIN THE, YOU KNOW, NEXT FIVE YEARS THAT WE GET THOSE OUT, GET THEM UP CURBSIDE, MAYBE TAKE OUT THE LITTLE FLOWER GARDEN THAT SITS OUT OVER HERE AND PUT IN SOME KIND OF AN ELECTRICAL TRANSFORMER LOCATION THAT WOULD FEED THIS BUILDING AND THE MUSEUM, OR THE OLD JCPENNEY BUILDING. SO THOSE ARE IN ADDITION TO THE COST OF THIS. I WOULD ESTIMATE ON A LOW END, THEY'RE PROBABLY SOMEWHERE IN THE $1.5 MILLION RANGE TO $2 MILLION TO HAVE THAT TYPE OF WORK DONE. AND THE 50-YEAR RENOVATION, I'M GOING TO TURN THIS OVER TO CMBA AND LET THEM DISCUSS THE FINDINGS THAT THEY HAD OVER THE LAST SCENARIOS THAT THEY PRESENTED. YES. YES. SURE. WE REALLY HAVE TWO OPTIONS, AND PATTY, JUMP IN IF I'M WRONG, BUT WE HAVE SALES TAX, THE SAVED DOLLARS THAT COME FROM THE STATE. AND THEN WE ALSO HAVE PEPL. PEPL RIGHT NOW IS JUST THE MINIMUM AMOUNT, SO THAT MONEY IS PRETTY WELL TAKEN UP IN JUST COSTS OF, CHAD AND I PRETTY WELL SPLIT THAT BETWEEN TRANSPORTATION NEEDS AND TECHNOLOGY NEEDS, SO THAT WOULD BE SOMETHING, JUST THE PEPL, RIGHT, PATTY? BUT THE MAJOR ADDITIONS WOULD BE TO TAKE ON LARGER CLASS SIZES, THINGS LIKE THAT, BECAUSE YOU GUYS ARE AT CAPACITY IN THOSE CLASSROOMS ALREADY, AND YOU'RE TRYING TO GET ANOTHER 50 YEARS. SO, ALL IN ALL, TO BRING IT UP ANOTHER 50 YEARS, THESE NUMBERS THAT YOU'RE SEEING, SO FOR EXAMPLE, AT EAST OF 47 TO 53, WOULD JUMP TO 75 TO 90 MILLION DOLLARS FOR THAT COST. TO GET ANOTHER 50 YEARS.
